Who is responsible

What I collect

Only what you type into the contact form:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your business name
• Your current website, if you give one
• Whatever you write in the message box

Three things are recorded automatically when you submit: your IP address, your browser's user agent and the date and time. The IP address is used to limit how many times the form can be submitted from one place in an hour, which is the only spam defence on it.

No cookies are set at any point, by the form or by anything else, and nothing is stored on your device. Page visits are counted anonymously, which is covered in its own section below.

Analytics

I use Plausible Analytics to see which pages people actually read. It is a privacy first alternative to Google Analytics, and it is hosted in the EU.

It records the page you looked at, the site you arrived from, and your browser, operating system, device type and country.

It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Your IP address is used for a moment to work out your country and to avoid counting you twice, then discarded. It is never stored, and no profile of you is built. Plausible cannot follow you from this site to any other one, because there is no identifier to follow.

That is why there is still no cookie banner. The rule that produces those banners is about storing or reading information on your device, and this does neither.

If you would rather not be counted at all, any ad blocker or tracker blocker will exclude you. I have deliberately not routed this through my own domain to get around that, which is a common trick and one I am not willing to use. Blocking works here.

Why, and on what basis

To read your enquiry and reply to it. That is the whole purpose.

The lawful basis is legitimate interests: you contacted me asking for a reply, and replying requires keeping your details long enough to do it. I do not use your details for marketing, I do not add you to a mailing list, and there is no mailing list to be added to.

Where it goes

Your enquiry is stored on my own server in Falkenstein, Germany, and a copy is emailed to me so I see it. The email goes through Google, because I read my mail in Gmail.

Those two are the only places it exists. I do not use a form service, a CRM, or any marketing platform, and I do not sell, share or pass your details to anyone. Nothing you type into the form is sent to the analytics described above, which never sees it.

How long I keep it

Twelve months, after which it is deleted automatically. This is not a policy I have to remember to follow: the software deletes anything older than 365 days every time a new enquiry arrives.

The email copy sits in my Gmail until I delete it, in the normal way that any email you send anyone does.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me to:

• Give you a copy of what I hold about you
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete it
• Stop using it, or restrict how I use it
• Give it to you in a portable format
• Object to me holding it at all

Email hello@bezierstudio.co.uk and I will do it. There is no form and no charge, and I will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You are welcome to raise it with me first, but you do not have to.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions, because there have been none.
